So for part 2 of their engagement session we decided to go to a laundromat. Not exactly your standard place to take pics and boy did we get some looks!

It was pretty awesome.

Luckily Jordan and Kayla really couldn't have cared less about the looks and totally played along.

My Princess at 2

Oh my little princess. My sweet little girl is actually turning three next month. I thought it was about time to post her two year old pictures.

I had a really hard time finding the time and energy and location to take her pictures. Since I was working so much and when I was home I just wanted to chill and be with my family...the thought of taking time to go somewhere and take pictures just was really daunting to me. Having to plan her outfit and keep her perfect...now I know what my clients go through. I can take their pics no problem but keeping my two year old happy was a different story.

Then I realized...I didn't want "staged" pictures of her in a perfect outfit and all of that. I wanted pictures that represented who she is at this point in her life...

and what she is right now is my little firecracker. Keeping her still longer than .06 seconds is pretty much impossible. This little girl is a mover and a shaker...with her own view on everything.

Like in church...during the part where everyone is completely silent...when I lean over and whisper for her not to pick her nose because it's gross and the whole ward hears "Mommy...I HAVE to pick my nose!"

Well...at least she knows to wipe whatever she finds on a tissue.

Or the time when I went to go do her hair only to get my hand slapped away and hear "Mommy, you can't do my hair...I'm blond!"

Apparently since I am NOT blond...I can't touch her hair.

Yes...this girl is a goof....

with a capitol G...

...but underneath that goofy exterior is one of the sweetest little people I know.

Someone who can make me tear up just because she put her hand on my cheek and told me she thinks I'm beautiful. Despite the fact that I'm hugely pregnant and swollen.

She is someone who introduces me as her mommy and her best best best best best friend.

She is someone who will not let me leave unless I give her a great big hug and kiss.

She is someone who, when playing with her dolls (mostly her baby and her dinosaurs), will give them hugs and kisses and say, "It's all right honey, I'm here." You never know what they'll pick up until you hear them play with their toys.

She is someone who is the life of the party. And she knows it.

And yet...she makes sure others are included and is constantly making sure other kids have their turn.

She won't give me a real smile in pictures...

But as soon as she sees her dad, she sure lights up.

So yes...she keeps us on her toes.

I never know what she's going to say in public.

I never know when she's going to yell "HI DADDY!" in church.

I never know if today is an eating or non-eating day.

I never know if I'll be able to touch her hair since she is blond and I am not.

But I know I'm her best friend.

I know that her smile when I get her out of bed in the morning is enough to light my entire day.

I know the kisses I get when I stub my toe are enough to carry me through anything.

I know the sweet little things she says when I'm getting ready for the day totally make my entire week.

I know she's going to be an amazing big sister...

And I'm so incredibly grateful I get to be her mommy.

Ok folks...I'm officially back to blogging. Why? You might ask yourselves is this time any different than the last? Well...because I no longer work in Salt Lake at a day job.

That's right...I quit my day job to focus 100% on my photography.

Soooooooooooooooo...I know. I have been totally absent on the internet recently. I'll tell you why right now...

I'm pregnant! We're about 17 weeks along now and the nausea is JUST starting to go down. Some days. To make matters worse...computers are part of what make me sick. It's terrible. So other than editing...I've really tried to stay off the computer.

SO! I have a TON of posts to catch up on. We'll start with Madi.

Quick story. The Princess woke up from her nap. When she wakes up on her own...lemme just tell you, she is adorable and so much fun to be around.

She calls me.

"Mama! I wake up! Get me please!"

I tell her: "Just a minute! I need to get you a new sippy."

She says: "K - new sippy with just milk." (she likes to tell me whether she wants chocolate or strawberry or just milk)

I go in. She's standing against the side of the crib (I'm dreading the day she graduates to a toddler bed. DREADING) holding her blanky and reaching for her sippy.

I just got home from work and was still dressed up in my work clothes.

She looks at me and gasps.

"Mama!"

I kneel down next to her crib so we're eye level.

"Your sweater is beautiful Mama!" and strokes my sweater.

"Your hair is beautiful Mama!" and strokes my hair.

"Your earrings are beautiful Mama!" and strokes my earrings.

"Your eyes are beautiful Mama!" (I was wearing eye makeup) and strokes my eyes (glasses).

At first...my little heart just melted. THEN...I realized wait, if she's that shocked over me being ready for work, I think that means I don't really dress up at ho me all that much.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

So this family...um, adorable!!! I had soooooooooooooooooo much fun with them!! They were the winners of my Cardigan Empire contest and may I just say...so glad they won. :)

When they got out of the car, I got happy. Their outfits. Amazing.

So we went down south and took some groomals a week or so ago. May I just say again was a beautiful couple these two are?

Yup...they make me brag that I'm related. Haha!

We had so much fun taking these...

As you can tell...

Aunt Janie made us all crack up and then there was the car issue. The same car that got hit by a deer...? Yeah, we thought it sprung a major oil leak. Luckily we found out it was just the Hubs had left the oil cap off when he topped it off. Phew!

Gorgeous Weekend...

Last weekend that is... Like a week ago. Today...was snow. Snow snow and oh yeah! More snow. So I'm REALLY grateful we did this shoot last week.

I have a blog I follow called Uber Chic for Cheap. Quite possibly one of my favorite fashion blogs. Seriously ladies...you'll be hooked once you check it out. I just love it. Well...the blogger behind it is Madeline. She's super cute and super stylish and also is going to have a baby! So we got together last weekend for a maternity session with her and her husband.

Oh my gosh...they are total crack-ups! LOVED this session. Have you ever met a couple that you wish were just your best friends? Yup...this would be that couple. They were so so great. My sister-in-law was with me as well as my assistant Megan 'cause we were planning an Ikea trip and they both commented to me after wards how awesome these guys were. I'll let a picture show how fun they are...

See? Seriously...they're such a cute couple. And have you ever seen such a cute pregnant lady?

Yeah...me neither.

Awwww...the Hub's cousin Angelee is getting married. MARRIED! I can't believe how old I feel sometimes.

Anywhoo, she lives in a little town in central southern Utah. Just about an hour outside of St. George. So. We decided to take advantage of the beeeeeautiful southern weather and escape our winter wonderland. Only to get SNOWED OUT of St. George!

Say what???

Yup...we were only able to do engagements when we had bridals and groomals planned for later in the day. But the rain came down and where we were planning to do the other session had snow.

Snow.

I guess snow loves me. I, however...would really rather prefer it stick to its appropriate place. The mountains. And while we're on the topic of snow. There was a blizzard today. Um, it's April 8th. That durned groundhog lied. I'm thinking he was playing a joke on us this year. Cause yeah...there's a good inch of fluffy white stuff on my yard right now.

Whoa...I really digressed there didn't I? I apologize. Let me get to some pics...

They're such a cute couple and really...so so SO in love.

We went all over the St. George area trying to beat the rain and get our pictures...

Don't get me wrong...I love me some good rain pictures. It can make for some pretty romantic pictures. Like this one...

However...this rain was FREEZING cold and I was so not expecting it. You know...since I was in St. George and all...who thinks to pack a coat? Not me!!!

So we finally ended up in a cupcake shop.

So maternity sessions might quite possibly be one of my favorite kind of sessions ever.

Especially when it's a couple's first child.

There is just something so special about becoming parents.

It makes both parents glow...not just the mommy.

And while I've met only a handful of pregnant women who loves how they look...I LOVE how special mommies-to-be are. They truly are beautiful in a way no one else is.

...with one of my favorite couples.You've met Kayla and Jordan before. We did cute family pictures with them and their awesome dog Beamer. Well...they're gettin' hitched! And I couldn't be more excited. You see...I've known Kayla for years. We've worked together for quite a while. She's a total sweetheart. And Jordan? He's awesome. A really cool guy and pretty much the most perfect guy in the world for Kayla.

Yup...love them.

We decided to just have some fun for the Save the Date session. We're doing the formal engagements in May so we decided to just let loose for these pictures. And lemme tell ya...we had some fun. And it's all documented. Hee hee! Here's some proof...

We were laughing soooooooooo hard during this session. SO hard. Partially because every time I said "smile!" Kayla would burst out in a huge peal of laughter 'cause that's how she gets a pretty smile on her face. We.were.dying. It was sooooooo funny. Kayla's probably gonna kill me for sharing her secret but I'm going to start telling people to do that 'cause it totally loosens people up and it's pretty durned awesome. :)

Since we decided to just have fun...I decided to bring my daughter's favorite game.

Well...first off, I hope you all had a simply marvelous Christmas. We did. Christmas with kids is AWESOME! End of story.

Secondly...remember how I said my internet issues were over? Yeah...they weren't! Hence the lack of blogging. But now I am happy to say they are! Can I hear a woot woot!!!

Now...to get to the actual post! I know that's why you all visit my blog...not to listen to my incessant rambling but to actually see pictures...so I guess I better actually show you some pictures huh?

Ah...I love groomal sessions. They totally take the stress out of the wedding day. So you can imagine what I said when Emily asked if they should do a bridal or groomal session. GROOMAL!

No contest. :)

So we all met up at the Utah State Capitol Building. One of my favorite locations quite possibly ever. You can get soooooooooooo many different kinds of shots there. I get out of the car. Megan (aka Audrey from THIS post) gets out of the car. I open my truck...throw in my purse...slam the trunk...realize my keys are in my purse...yell "Noooooooooooooooo" at Megan at the top of my lungs a second too late as she slams the door.

Dang it.

Totally just locked my keys in the car. So we called the Hubs. Luckily he wasn't working and took care of calling a locksmith for me. And luckily Megan was able to take care of actually getting the locksmith into my car. I heart you Megan! :)

So the shoot was a total success but I'll let the rest of the pictures do the talking.

Um...that last picture may or may not be one of my favorite pictures ever. Dunno why...I just love it.

Audrey Inspiration!

So um, I love Audrey Hepburn. I love her style, the grace in which she conducted herself... Everything. One of my favorite movies of all time is My Fair Lady. But her most iconic look comes from Breakfast At Tiffany's.

Love it.

So I wanted to do a shoot that was Audrey inspired. But who would get all dolled up and pose? Luckily...my assistant Megan volunteered. And what a great shoot to do for her 16th birthday. And my awesome sister-in-law came on up for hair and make-up duty. And I had a little black dress that worked perfectly.

Ah.....I love when details come together.

I threw my own spin on things though by having her wear purple tights.

Um...kinda love them. :) They might just be my most favoritest tights ever.

But when I think Audrey...I also think classic black and white. And boy...Megan has a pretty profile. She was just perfect for this shoot.

But I couldn't help throwing in a color profile shot...

So pretty.

And then of course sunglasses...

Because Audrey wouldn't be Audrey without her big over-sized sunglasses...

Honestly...Megan is such a natural beauty. I don't think I could have asked for a better model...or assistant...or babysitter. Whew! She's one talented girl!

So Megan...thank you for being a good sport in the freezing cold weather. You're great!

Pretty Pretty Couple...

So a couple weeks ago I went out with my brother and his wife Tariel. I have to say...I really lucked out in regards to in-laws. Not only is Tariel gorgeous...but she's the sweetest little thing EVER! Our little girl just loves her auntie Tariel.

And they're the cutest couple ever.

I have to give major props to Aaron for being willing to get up for the shoot. Because of his job, they didn't get to bed until oh...about 3:00 am the evening before and our shoot was bright and early. Poor guy was so tired.
And when he's tired...he's goofy.

At one point I had to threaten to give him more scars to match the ones I gave him when he was 12...

But that still didn't stop him.

You want an example? Here ya go...

Then again...I don't think I can blame this on him being tired. He's just a goofball without being tired.

But despite goofing off, I think it was a successful shoot.

They have a really sweet relationship and I'm so glad we were able to capture these moments...

A Jump Start on Christmas...

Where on earth did time go this year? Honestly!

So with November comes planning...

So beautiful Natalia is ready to audition. But they required headshots that were taken within the last 3 months. So we got together and got some headshots done but also had a ton of fun with some other pics as well.

Since it was Natalia...we all went, the Hubs, the Princess, and me! Natalia is my little bro's (on an LDS mission) "friend"...haha! It had been awhile since we had spent time with her so the Princess was completely enthralled with her. It was so cute!

And she LOVED the rain. Thought it was awesome.

Anywhoo! We had such a fun time. And I mean seriously...check out how stinkin' gorgeous Natalia is...

Um...those eyes???? SO pretty.

And really, this girl is a natural.

Senior Pictures...

So last week we went out to take Mr. Luke's senior pictures.

I can't believe Luke is 18. Crazy. When did time start to go by so durned fast?

Anywhoo...Luke here is a pretty artsy kid. The drawings he can whip up are pretty awesome. And his music...? He plays the violin, guitar, and the mandolin. Oh...and some ukulele. So we had to bring his violin with us. Check it out...

Because Luke is such an artsy guy we decided to go on out to SaltAir and take his pictures. I love everything out by the Great Salt Lake. It's smelly and kinda gross and I ruined my shoes in some day old paint but check out the awesome stuff out there...

Never thought I would say graffiti was cool but yup...for these pictures, it was perfect.

This place is really a photographer's dream. I loved it. I kinda want to go back and take some awesome family pics.

And randomly there was a couch. Of course we had to use it...

Tea Party!!!!

Ok...so this is totally the session I've been DYING to share. I'm so in love with these pictures. I love all things vintage and tea party-esque. So when Aunt Janie wanted pictures of the girls in their Nana's old clothes...yeah, I might have just jumped up and down. I immediately thought "tea party!" and the girls were totally game.

Not only that but Janie's house is a veritable antique store and the cool thing is that everything has meaning. She doesn't just shop at antique stores...she has things that have been passed down. EV.ER.Y.TH.ING in this shoot was special to them in some way or another. It was really cool...

A perfect and beautiful brunch tea party. Seriously...Janie ran to the house to grab something and when she got back she said she felt like she was stepping back in time when she saw everything.

So true.

These girls were PER.FECT. Their hair, make-up, outfits...they did such a great job pulling the details together.

Yup...they make me smile every time I see them. I just feel like I've stepped into a movie. Thanks girls for letting me go crazy! It.was.AWESOME! I'm an only girl and these pics really make me wish I had some sista's to hang with. Good thing I married into a family chock full of girls! :)

So I was pretty excited when Cherie wanted to do a shoot in black with the motorcycle 'cause number one...she's gorgeous and number two...how much fun would that be?

I'll tell you how much fun...it was a blast.

We had so much fun posing with the bike and just being girls. And Cherie? Well she's just a natural in front of the camera. She's one beeeeeeeeeautiful mama.

We needed an old car for one of the shoots down south last weekend and we found this one. Um...I LOVED IT! :)

On a completely opposite note...I'm watching Pushing Daisies.

Why do all the good shows get canceled?

I love the whimsical story lines, the costumes, the actors...everything. Thank goodness for wb.com that replays the episodes.

Down South Part 2...

Ah...just reminiscing about my vacation makes me want another one. This one was kinda a "working" vacay. I need a relaxing...doing nothing but lying by a pool...vacay.

I'm thinking it just might be time to go back to Florida. Hmmmm...I'm a thinking so! Orlando...Winter Park, to be more specific. Take a stroll down Park Ave, eat a 1/2 a grapefruit that is exorbitantly over-priced but hey...I didn't have to cut it!..., take a dip in the lake, eat at Hot Olives or Dexter's, and of course take the Princess to see Cinderella...live. Yup, I think it's time.

SO! I'm going to throw this out. I MIGHT be convinced to block out some of my vacation for some photo sessions. So if any of you Floridians are interested...let me know! I'd love to meet you all!

Anywhoo...enough about me wanting to swim in the ocean again, lets get on to some pictures!

First up, Uncle Paul and Aunt Janie....

Aren't they cute...? I'll answer that one really fast...heck yes! They're also two of the funniest people we know. Hilarious is the proper term.

Down South...

So the Hubs, the Princess, and I all went down south for the weekend. It was General Conference and we went and spent it with some family in a small town in central/southern Utah. And by small town...I mean small town. The sign that always makes the Hubs and I laugh as we pull in says:"No shooting within city limits"

Like they have to announce that. Hee hee!

Every trip we come closer to deer than we have ever been. Each trip I get a greater appreciation for the proximity of my house to shopping malls. Each trip I get to see stars like I've never seen. And each trip we stay up really late laughing so hard the tears start pouring.

Well this trip we also decided to do some family pictures. The daughter that lives in Vegas was in town so we all got together. Now there were WAY WAY WAY too many pictures to put in one post so we're gonna break them all down. This post...? This post is all about Cherie and her lovely family.

Also...I'm sure you've all noticed (all 3 of you that read my blog...haha!) that it got a make-over! I LOVE IT! Leave some blog love and let me know what you think!!!

The Princess...

So I had a session cancel on me on Friday. Well...I had already scheduled my assistant and had already blocked the time out so we decided to take the Princess out and snap some shots.

I rarely ever do this...dress her up and take her out. People always ask me if the Princess is the most photographed child ever and my response is always a laugh. No yes or no...just a laugh. You might ask yourself why.

I thought somehow that this session would be different...

What...oh what...was I thinking?

But then somehow she loosened up for a few minutes...

(yes...she is in the air, she LOVES jumping and that's all she did for about 15 minutes until Megan pointed out the rat and we left that area immediately)

...and really showed us who she was. A total sweetheart.

This picture is my favorite.

Megan caught this one and lemme tell ya...I'm blowing this one up HUGE for my wall. Her smile is so real and it really shows what a busy, yet happy, little girl she is.

She heard a plane overhead and had to show it to us...

"es?" is her word for everything. We think it stands for this but then again...it could stand for a myriad of other things as well. It's a word we really have to guess with... But whenever she points to the sky and says "es?" we know it's a plane. And then I feel really smart.

The Princess is definitely taking after her dad's side in regards to hair color. All of my sister in laws on both sides are blond and whenever we're out and about with any of them...people automatically assume she's theirs...

But that's ok...I love my little blondie and wouldn't have her any other way.

And those eyes? Didn't touch them in editing...they're completely hers.

So yes...this girl is a mover and a shaker. She definitely keeps me on my toes and gives me my exercise, but she's also an amazingly gentle little girl.

Who has us wrapped completely around her little finger.

...at what we've been up to lately.

And to finish off the spider stories.

The very day after my 2 spider encounters the Hubs and I were sitting on the couch. He had gotten off of work, and we were leisurely perusing design blogs looking for ideas for our kitchen when all of a sudden the Hubs reaches over me with his napkin that he still had in his hand from eating dinner...random, I know...and grabs something RIGHT BY MY ARM.

This was not a couple feet from my arm or maybe on the floor, oh no...it was RIGHT BY MY ARM!!!!! Like 2 inches from bare flesh.

I think I might have punched something if I hadn't been holding the laptop. Good thing it wasn't a jumping spider or I might have died. Yup...another spider. 3...THREE...in a 2 day window. Since then I have seen one at least once every other day. It would seem we're infested. They've moved in. Needless to say...the Hubs has been given very VERY serious job of spraying.

So here's a question...have any of you had a spider issue? What have you done about it? I'm really curious. We looked into getting a lizard but the whole lizard loose in my house didn't really do it for me either. The Hubs and his family are deathly allergic to cats so a cat isn't an option. Do dogs catch spiders? Hmmmm.........HELP! Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
